Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi – Review
Finding a theater where Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi is screened, was a though job. It was hard to believe that there were no takers for Rajshri’s film. The same Rajshris who have given us some fabulous movies in the past and the last one being Vivaah which was a big hit. Scanning through the news paper, browsing web sites finally helped. There is only one theater in Bangalore that is screening Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi and that is Theater Kailash. We just made it in time for the tickets and the rest had to return back for the film was houseful.
Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi is the story of Prem (Sonu Sood and Chandni (Eesha Koppikhar). They meet during a contest and eventually fall in love. All goes well and their parents give their consent for the marriage. But fate had something else written for them. A day before their engagement, Chandni’s father( Alok Nath) passes away leaving behind chandni and her two school going siblings. Chandni sacrifices her love and resolves to educate the two and raise them up single-handedly. But Prem waits for his love and gives her moral support all through the years. Chandni marries off her brother. Brother is forced to leave the house to be with his wife. Her sister too is married off. It is a wait of 12 years or as Prem says 12 years of romance before they get married.
First half of the film was bit boring because of too many songs. Sadly Ravindra Jain’s Music in the film does not create magic. Film picks up in second half. There are so many emotional moments in the film. Forget ladies, I could hear the guys crying. The boys sitting next to me were in their early twenties and I could hear them sobbing during a scene where chandni’s brother applies tilak to his forehead and tries to tie rakhi to himself.
From khallas girl to the girl next door, Eesha has made a beautiful transition. Both Sonu Sood and Eesha have done justice to their role. Debutant director Kaushik Ghatak has done a good job. Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi is a typical Rajshri film with loads of love, sacrifice, drama and songs. As my friend puts it “If you liked Vivaah, you will like this film also”.
