The PHOONK 2 Scare Contest

This is what the makers of Phoonk 2 have to say:

* Before the release of “PHOONK” we had challenged that if any viewer could dare to see the film sitting all alone in a theatre and not run out scared he will get a Cash Prize of Rs.5 Lakhs.

* The contestant who took the challenge didn’t even last for 30mins and ran out of the theatre.

* After the release, some people alleged that the contest was rigged and that they never felt fear while watching the film. So now without going into a pointless argument on the same, we the Phoonk 2 team have decided to open ourselves to a scientific evaluation of that claim.

* For “PHOONK 2″ we are going to implement our Contest in a very scientific way as never ever done before in the history of Cinema anywhere across the World. The viewer who will claim that he is not going to get scared will be fitted with a ECG machine while he is watching Phoonk 2 which will monitor his Heartbeat and Pulse rate and this will be shown live on a screen outside the theatre to both the Media and all concerned.

* A normal person according to professionals has a certain average heartbeat and when subjected to any kind of an intense emotion the beats will considerably go up. So if the challenger claims that he had no fear while watching Phoonk 2 the monitor will tell whether he is lying or not and on the other hand if he can control his fear and thereby his heartbeat and not let it cross his normal heartbeat then he will get to win the cash prize.

* The PHOONK 2 Team DARES any viewer to take this Challenge and watch PHOONK 2.

* We intend to launch the contest on 10th March on our official website www.phoonk2.in. This contest is Restricted to only healthy people with no history of Cardiac disease and also only to people who are between 18 and 60 years of age.

* The contest will be open for people across INDIA and based on a computerized random draw people will be shortlisted, who then further will have to give a medical indemnification for further selection by our team and a medical professional who will eventually single out the final Challenger to be subjected to the test. The Challengers normal heartbeat will be recorded before and while the screening is happening. We will also make sure that the contestant is actually watching the film without closing his eyes by shooting him Live through a night vision camera and showing his facial expressions to the media and all concerned on a screen outside the theatre. If at all he wins this challenge he will be awarded the Prize money right at the Venue in front of everybody.

PS: For any unforeseen situations an Ambulance will be on standby at the Theatre to monitor the contestants.

Genda Phool singer Rekha Bhardwaj enthralls Bengaluru audience

Rekha Bhardwaj

Cold night and the pleasantly blowing winds set the atmosphere right for the Sufi night. While the Performer of the night enjoyed the Bengaluru weather amidst the bad traffic jams, we waited for her at the Jayamahal Palace. Though, I must admit it was not a long wait. Iska group finally arrived. Rekha Bhardwaj who has sung songs like ‘Genda Phool’ for Delhi-6, ‘Tere Ishq mein’ for Kaminey was the performer of the night at the event organized by the Times of India Crest edition on Friday 18th Dec. This was her first perfomance in Bengaluru and the audience was in full attendance to cheer this immensely talented singer.

Rekha started the event with the song ‘ Tere Ishq mein’ from the film Kaminey. Rekha then mesmerized the audience with Sufi songs ‘Iska Iska Allah hu’ followed by ‘Teri razaa meri razaa’. Beautiful lyrics, topped with the soulful voice of Rekha was enough to take me into a state of Trance. While she was singing ‘Raat ki Jogan’, I was wondering who would have penned these songs. Between the songs, she mentioned that these poems were written by Gulzar Sahab and that she feels connected with the almighty through these songs.

After the individual performances by the musicians, Rekha was back on stage after a short break with Bollywood numbers. Audience cheered as she sang Genda phool. Namak Isha ka from Omkara was another number that exhilarated us. The evening ended with another hit number ‘Raat ke dhai baje’ from the film Kaminey. Needles to say, Bengaluru audience enjoyed every bit of it.

Superstitious Himesh Reshammiya

radio-hindi-movie

Himesh Reshammiya believes that numbers 4 and 8 are unlucky for him. So instead of releasing his film Radio on Friday which is December 4, Himesh will be releasing it on Thursday which is December 3.

“The numbers 4 and 8 aren’t lucky for me. KARZZZZ was released on October 17 last year, which totals to 8. I was dead against releasing the film on that date and my worst fears came true when KARZZZ flopped. That’s why I decided against releasing RADIO on December 4. Instead, we will release the film on the evening of December 3″ says Himesh.

Radio movie length is 2 hours rather than 3 hours. Himesh wants to keep it short and sweet. Hope the audience will like it!

Height of Coincidence

27th April : We boarded the train for Haridwar. Our Boogie was full with followers of certain guru. We watched them move around as we tried to catch with our sleep. Early morning we reached our destination. We were in Haridwar for a wedding but the two days that we spent here seemed like we were here on a spiritual trip. Sight seeing in Haridwar included a visit to Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi by trolley through rope way. As I was enjoying the scenic beauty of Haridwar from the trolley, I recalled something. Back home when we were planing for this trip, my brother had asked me if I would be visiting the Nau Devis( including Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi). I had told him that I was not sure of it. Call it coincidence or something else. Our visit to the temples was the first coincidence that happened to us in our ten days long trip.

30th April : Mussoorie, Queen of hill stations. As we walked towards mall road, few men with horses approached us for the horse ride. Since we didn’t wanted to go for the horse ride we just checked the rates and moved ahead. Mall road is shoppers paradise and before I could realize, my pocket was getting lighter and the shopping bags were getting heavier. Next day we planned for sight seeing in Mussoorie and hired a Taxi. We covered Buddha temple, Kemty Falls and Lal Tibba that day. Back by 5pm, we didn’t want to go to our rooms so early. So we decided to go for a horse ride. As we approached the horse stand an old man came towards us with the horse. I smiled. He was the man with whom we had checked the horse ride rates yesterday. And for the next 2 days we somehow bumped into this old man and enjoyed the horse ride on his horse. So many horses run around in Mussoorie. But what a coincidence that on all the days no matter what time of the day or what part of the city we were in, we met this old man.

2nd May : Another amazing day! Strolling through Mall road, we reached Taxi stand to hire a Taxi for half day sight seeing. As I sat in the taxi, I saw the photos of God sticked with the red Insulation tape. I was trying hard to recollect something and then it dawned to me that it was the same taxi that we had hired yesterday. Wow! I told the driver that we went sight seeing in this taxi yesterday and told him that someone else was driving this taxi. He said, the man who was driving yesterday was his uncle. Thousands of Taxis in Mussoorie and we got the same one in which we traveled yesterday. Something more exciting was yet to unfold. While exploring the J P Residency Manor, I saw the washroom board and got in to wash my hands. A fat lady in her late fifties and another good looking lady in white salwar kameez and sun glasses(which almost covered her face)were inside. Both were busy in themselves and even I kept to myself. Out in the Lounge, my curiosity arose when I saw a small crowd. When inquired, I got to know that Mahima Choudry has stopped for lunch before catching a flight for Delhi from Dehradun Airport. After a while, the crowd scattered and I got the glimpse of Mahima and besides her was the fat lady whom I had seen in the washroom. Mahima was in white salwar kameez. That means, I told to myself, the lady whom I saw in washroom was Mahima Choudry. May be, I could not recognise her due to her new hairstyle and the big sun glasses that she was wearing. Another coincidence, I smiled.

3rd May : Last day in Mussoorie! Itinerary for the day included a visit to Company Garden and Camel’s Back. Company Garden can be reached either by private cars or by the Cycle Rickshaws. We took the rickshaw and as we moved toward the Company Garden, we got the taste of Musssoorie. The road surrounded with hills and trees and Pleasant climate made this short journey a memorable one. Company garden has a giant wheel that is run not by machines but by men. These men climb up and get to the middle of the giant wheel and stand there in such a way, so that they can keep the giant wheel moving by pushing it with their legs. Scary but True! After enjoying most of the rides there, we had our lunch. As we proceeded toward gate, I saw few people whose face seemed familiar to me. On a closer look, I realised that they were the same group of people who were on the train with us on 27th April. Can this really happen? Almost 7 days after I saw them for the first time, I see them again. They were many in numbers, as though they had come for a picnic. And some one was shooting the whole thing on the video. And suddenly the camera turned towards the giant wheel and so did my eyes. I saw Krupalu Maharajji enjoying Giant wheel ride with his followers. Amazing! We had seen Krupalu Maharajji(though I must admit, it was twice or thrice) delivering Pravachans on Aastha TV and had admired him for this vast knowledge. Today I see him right in front of me. I had a strange feeling. The kind of feeling which I cannot put in words. After sometime the group left and so did we. Our next destination was Camel’s back. Camel’s back is best enjoyed while riding the horse. But this time I could not find that old man. Camels back is about 5kms and since we didn’t have much time in hand we decided to go till half way and return back. The man who was holding the horse guided us through the way. Somehow, when we reached halfway our minds changed and we asked the man to take us for the full ride. Something interesting was waiting for us. After few minutes we saw the same spiritual group again. The horse man pointed to the building and said this is Krupalu Maharajji Ashram. I said to myself “This is the height of coincidence”.
